  Sarah Geana | General Manager

Sarah Geana |
General Manager

Sarah Geana has 15 years of experience in the hospitality industry from institutions like the Getty Museum and Disney Corporate Studios. Sarah began working for Bon Appétit 9 years ago as the catering manager at the Getty Villa. She graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Art History. While in school, she dreamt about working at a museum one day. This job perfectly combines her qualifications and passions.
Sarah recalls many youthful family visits to The Huntington and wishes to convey the historical importance of the institution in her work. Sarah finds comfort in holiday food and genuinely loves a good traditional Thanksgiving spread and always wants to eat it year round.

Emily Arteaga |  Special Events Coordinator

Our newest team member, Emily Arteaga, worked in the Chinese Garden at Freshwater Dumpling and Noodle House prior to joining the Huntington Hospitality team in June 2017. Emily has been in the hospitality industry for five years and earned her Bachelors of Science in Hotel and Tourism Management with a concentration in Event Management from New York University. Prior to her employment, she would visit The Huntington and marvel at what a lovely and peaceful place it was, and think how she would love to work here. Emily has a certificate in professional baking and is a ribbon-winning pie maker!

Sandra Castro | Event Coordinator

Sandra Castro is the Events Office Administrative Assistant for Huntington Hospitality and joined the company in November 2016. She lives in Los Angeles and was previously employed by The Huntington’s security department as a part-time control room operator and events officer. After visiting The Huntington for the first time in February 2014, she was astonished by the establishment's scenic views and history . Sandra enjoys adventurous activities such as sky diving and hiking. During her free time she enjoys exploring other local gardens and museums and spending time with her family.

Rebecca Farraj |
Marketing Manager

Rebecca Farraj began working with Bon Appétit as a catering attendant while earning her Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies and Sciences at California State Polytechnic University. She was quickly promoted to Director of Catering at the University of La Verne, managing all events. After mastering events at the University for 7 years, Rebecca sought to expand her career options and discovered an interest in marketing for the café and retail outlets at the university. She began helping other Bon Appétit accounts around the region with their marketing efforts. Rebecca brings an extensive knowledge of the company’s practices and standards as well as a strength in event operations to the culinary programs. Joining the Huntington Hospitality team with the Novemeber 2016 opening, Rebecca is instrumental in the development and execution of Huntington Hospitality public culinary programs.

Valerie Vance |
Event Manager

Valerie joins Huntington Hospitality as an Event Manager with 11 years specializing in event planning and a collective 20 years in the hospitality industry. Starting as a server in 1997, Valerie worked her way up the ladder to become a General Manager and eventually opened her own wedding and event planning business at age 26. Valerie rejoined the hospitality business as the Catering Director with Centerplate at The McAllen Convention Center.   She has continued to grow and develop her career since then, recently working as the Catering Director for The University Club of Pasadena.
Born and raised in Texas, Valerie still finds comfort in a giant chicken fried steak (approximately the size of Texas) with gravy and mashed potatoes, barbecue ribs, and coleslaw. Despite the comfort Valerie finds in structure and coordination, she admits that to get these wild and crazy ideas every once in a while, you need to do super adventurous things, like learning how to surf or sky dive. She loves the outdoors and being adventurous!

Michelle Ambrosio |
Event Manager

Event Manager Michelle Ambrosio brings to the team 9 years of experience in the hospitality industry, specializing in corporate and social events. Michelle joined Huntington Hospitality in November 2016 after working for the Manhattan Steak and Seafood restaurant in Orange County. Michelle graduated from California State University in Fullerton earning a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and Management. Michelle believes in strong communication: she lets her team know what the goals and client expectations are, and what relationship she hopes to build with the client. Michelle is fluent in Tagalog and Spanish. She is a big foodie and especially loves seafood – paella is one of her favorite dishes. Michelle finds wisdom from Maya Angelou, quoting, “if you must look back, do so forgivingly. If you must look forward, do so prayerfully. However, the wisest thing you can do is be present in the present... gratefully.”

Marly oversees the execution of special events and catering, including setup, breakdown, and staff management. She ensures that all areas meet Huntington Hospitality’s meticulous standards.

Visiting The Huntington for the first time in 2016, Marly was drawn to The Rose Garden Tea Room for her love of English tea, but left with a much deeper appreciation of the gardens and the institution as a whole. Marly has a passion for travelling the world, board games, and all things nerdy. She looks forward to her upcoming Fall 2017 wedding to her fiancé, who shares these passions.
