Shakespeare Garden

Nestled between the Huntington Art Gallery and Virginia Steele Scott Galleries of American Art, the Shakespeare Garden features the flora of Shakespeare’s plays, creating an idyllic vignette from an English country scene. Formally designed in 1959, the garden is meant to draw the connection between Shakespeare’s art – early editions of his works are featured in The Huntington’s collections – and its relationship to plants. The ambling paths and trellised arbors set a pastoral backdrop for a wandering reception or intimate dinner affair.
